Resident coverage of "non-teaching" patients

1. Non-teaching patients include patients admitted to the X service, usually for a specific procedure (eg. s/p pacemaker placement, PTCA, etc).
2. Residents will provide emergency cross-coverage on-call care to these patients between the hours of 5 PM and 8 AM on weekdays and 12 PM to 8 AM on weekends. Residents will not see these patients unless specifically asked by a ward nurse or staff physician. Residents on a consultative service may also be asked to see and evaluate these patients during normal hours.
